The Word from Boston

For several weeks now, the buzzmill in the archdiocese of Boston has been churning at an unusually high clip.

New Cardinal Sean O'Malley, shown here at a weekend Mass of thanksgiving for his elevation, has not been shy in making it known that he expects the appointments of new auxiliaries quite soon to fill the one vacancy and several impending retirements among those ranks. Alongside this, several long-awaited changes in the archdiocese's central administration -- which has been virtually untouched since O'Malley's 2003 arrival -- are said to be at hand.

Put this in the "coming soon, very soon" file. And, Bostonians, keep me looped in.
